DC5252 Colour Proofs
GPS produce Xerox Docucolour 5252 digital proofs that are an equivalent to digital Cromalin, Fuji or Sherpa proofing. GPS's Xerox Docucolour device has been colour profiled to match our Komori Lithrone printing presses.
In common with all other digital proofing devices it gives a representation of the colour. The only true representations of colour are press proofs.
Press Proofs (rather than analogue proofs)
Press proofs (sometimes called machine proofs or wet proofs) are produced by imaging the plates, putting these on the printing press and setting up the press as though the job was about to be printed. Then a few sheets only are printed (the press settings stored) and sent to the customer. These will show exactly what the finished printed job will look like. Once passed the printer can then recall his settings and print the job exactly as the press proof.
On-line Proofing
This speeds up the proofing process and is invaluable if you work between the office and home. You will be provided with a password that enables you to log onto a bespoke web-site. Here you can view each page proof of your job, changes can then be highlighted or pages approved for press. When proofs are posted on the web-site by GPS an automated email or SMS text message will notify you that your proofs are ready for viewing.
Ink Duct Settings
For each job GPS's Prepress workflow system is utilised to generate an internationally standardised file (CIP 3) which is sent direct to the printing press. This sets the ink duct keys on the press perfectly for each individual plate on each job, ensuring accurate colour and density from the start of the print run.
This system enables the final colour of the job to be achieved with minimal adjustments on the press as the colour of the job is closer to our proofs from the first print which is produced. This system reduces the choices and alterations the printer is required to make, providing the client with a printed job, which is closer to their expectations.
